Eye Exercises For Myopia
We exercise to burn calories, to develop biceps and triceps,
and moreover to evade the impending doom of multiple illnesses. So why
not perform a few trouble-free eye exercises and pave the way for a
spectacles-free life? Myopia, a universal problem that enhances blurry
vision can be gradually mitigated by merely implementing a couple of
effortless eyes exercises. Infamous for marching into the lives of
school kids, myopia, if not hereditary is largely attributed to
incessant reading, and several hours of watching television and computer
browsing.
Eye exercise for short-sightedness correction irrefutably draws a
person suffering from the condition closer to liberation from the
clutches of man-made lenses and away from the ordeal of a frightening
laser surgery. In six to nine months, the world can still be a visual
treat, but solely if the clinically recommended exercises are
religiously practised! Gone will be the days of seeing double on a sober
night, and perhaps you could soon bid adieu to the hideous brown
coloured rim spectacles. But don’t dismiss the relaxing exercises that
follow!
Eye Exercises To Treat Myopia
Keep It Rolling
Rolling your eyes up and down is an exercise that ophthalmologist
would vouch for relieving eye strain. This is a very simple exercise and
all you would have to do is to sit, relax and roll your eyes in a
circular motion for about 5 to 10 times. Do not rush yourself for danger
of falling off your chair due to acute dizziness. Once you’re done,
shut your eyes and breathe deeply to enable relaxation of your eyes.
Blink And Wink
Blinking every now and then can do wonders. It’s a reflexive
instinct, one we tend to resist. While working closely with computers,
blinking regularly lubricates and energizes the eyes, thereby flagging
chances of further wear and tear.
Figure Eight
Either stand or sit with your feet shoulder width apart. Keep your
hands at your sides and bend your knees slightly. Then, picture a
horizontal figure eight or the infinity symbol lying ten feet ahead of
you. Let your eyes trace along the figure eight without moving your
head; first trace in one direction, second in the opposite. Release any
tension in the jaw, if present. Tracing the figure eight help increase
flexibility of your eye muscles.
The Hot Dog
Inhale and exhale twice. Stand or sit as you did for the figure
eights exercise. Affix your eyes towards a distant target. While looking
at this target, touch your index fingertips together and bring them
eight inches in front of your eyes and into your line of sight. As you
aim your eyes at the far-away target, calmly picture a mini hot dog
between the tips of your fingers. Do not allow the visual splendour of
the hot dog to distract you. Continue staring at your target and after a
few minutes, pull apart your fingertips to observe the hot dog floating
in the air. Now keep the hot dog for two breaths, then shift focus to
your fingers. The hot dog disappears! Do not retrieve the hot dog for
two breaths and then, envision it floating in the distance again. Switch
back and forth for two minutes.
Palming
Sit back and take a deep breath. Next, rub your hands together to
stimulate friction and for few minutes, place your warm palms over your
closed eyes. Gently, press your palms on your eyelids and don’t exert
any pressure. Your entire body must be calm and relaxed. Repeat this
over and over for around ten minutes each day to discover a phenomenal
difference!
Sunning
Our eyes need energy and what would be a better a remedy than
natural sunlight? Without facing the sun directly, lie down on a beach
bed and let the sun rays permeate your eyelids and forehead. Later,
slowly move your head from the right to the left and vice versa. Carry
on this process, popularly known as “sunning” for 2-3 minutes. As you
feel the warmth of the sun relax your face, eyes and neck, you shall
begin to see clearly in bright light as well as in minimum light.
“sunning” can thus, help reduce the incidence of myopia.
